Moves, Marathons and Missions

Hello!

Thanks for everyone's participation last week with our class "elections".  Barring any recounts, the following individuals have been "elected" to serve as class officers for the upcoming year. Thank you for those who volunteered and for those who were gone; we volunteered some of you too!

President - Chris Story
Vice President - Emily George
Curriculum - Erika Knisely, Clay Daigle
Social - Brandon Crisp (guys)   ??? (ladies)
Mission - Haley Rose
Treasurer - Kaycee Crisp
Membership - Lindsay Liggett

If you feel like helping out in any of these areas, it's not too late to sign up.  For those of you who missed last Sunday -- "Young Couples Class" will remain the class name for now. "Mixed Nuts" seemed a bit too telling and "The Meth[odist] Lab" seemed a little too scary.

Here are some important updates for this week:

Beginning this week, we will meet in Room 108 in the Family Life Center.

Due to the marathon, please check out alternate routes to church an plan for a longer commute.
Please visit our Young Couples Team Crop Walk page if you wish to donate.
You can also send this link out to friends and family that might want participate.

Decision 2012

Good afternoon everyone!
As we talked about last week, this Sunday, Feb. 12th, we will be selecting class officers.  It seems that in the four weeks the class has been meeting, a core group has emerged and it’s time for the Turners and the Hamres to step aside and let some more capable individuals take over.  Please be thinking how you could serve the class based on your talents and interests.  Here’s a rundown of the offices and a brief description of each.  We will take volunteers or nominations and if no one steps up, then we can resort to rock, paper, scissors.
President:  Ensures the class runs smoothly; Acts as a liaison with other groups within the church; Communicates with the class weekly; Takes attendance and offering
Vice President: President in waiting; Steps in when the president is out
Treasurer: Keeps track of the class account
Social: Gets the party started
Membership: Keeps class list current; Makes nametags; Checks in with visitors
Missions: Coordinates mission activities for the class; Researches mission and outreach opportunities available through FUMC
Curriculum: Plans calendar of lessons for the class; Recruits teachers for lessons
The last four offices listed often work well with a lead and a committee to gather different perspectives and lighten the workload.
Equally as important as selecting leadership is choosing a name for the group.  Bring your suggestions!
If we finish choosing officers and selecting a name before the Sunday school hour ends, we can begin brainstorming topics and lessons for the curriculum team to begin researching.
See you Sunday!

a little bit o' coffee and a whole lot o' class!

Hello Young Couples!

Wow!  We brought the coffee and you certainly brought the class!  We were thrilled to see your smiling faces turn up for the first gathering of The Young Couples Class.  We are looking forward to working with all of you to create a class that meets your spiritual needs.  In the coming weeks, we will be inviting more young couples to join us and we hope you consider inviting your friends to this class as well.

This week, Jamie will be teaching on the topic of balance.  It sounds like everyone is extremely busy with school, work, new babies, engagements, etc.  This is a very exciting time, but it is also a time when balance is hard to come by.  So, join us again on Sunday for fellowship and fun!

(Bookmark this site - we will be updating it every week with upcoming lessons and Young Couple News.)
