Decision 2012

Good afternoon everyone!
As we talked about last week, this Sunday, Feb. 12th, we will be selecting class officers.  It seems that in the four weeks the class has been meeting, a core group has emerged and it’s time for the Turners and the Hamres to step aside and let some more capable individuals take over.  Please be thinking how you could serve the class based on your talents and interests.  Here’s a rundown of the offices and a brief description of each.  We will take volunteers or nominations and if no one steps up, then we can resort to rock, paper, scissors.
President:  Ensures the class runs smoothly; Acts as a liaison with other groups within the church; Communicates with the class weekly; Takes attendance and offering
Vice President: President in waiting; Steps in when the president is out
Treasurer: Keeps track of the class account
Social: Gets the party started
Membership: Keeps class list current; Makes nametags; Checks in with visitors
Missions: Coordinates mission activities for the class; Researches mission and outreach opportunities available through FUMC
Curriculum: Plans calendar of lessons for the class; Recruits teachers for lessons
The last four offices listed often work well with a lead and a committee to gather different perspectives and lighten the workload.
Equally as important as selecting leadership is choosing a name for the group.  Bring your suggestions!
If we finish choosing officers and selecting a name before the Sunday school hour ends, we can begin brainstorming topics and lessons for the curriculum team to begin researching.
See you Sunday!
